Since Lions clubs were established, Lions have been dedicated to giving back to their communities. Lions clubs provide community parks, playgrounds, senior citizen programs and medical care for those in need.

Lions remain committed to improving the lives of those less fortunate around the world and right at home.

The Mohawk Valley Lions Club does frequent fundraisers to help the community, one example is the Krispy Kreme Doughnut fundraiser we held in Springfield, Oregon on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2004 at the Local Mohawk Goodyear. Sales were extremely well and the funds will be put towards to projects here in the near future. Walmart and Countryside Restaurant and Key Bank River Road Eugene(Krispy Kreme Doughnut drive) were also locations that were involved with the drive. We participated with The Eugene Lions Club for the 2004 Dodge Durango Giveaway during our Mary Cole Day Celebration. (A celebration for the memory of Mary Cole founder of Marcola), and now a yearly pancake breakfast during Mary Cole Day. Mohawk Valley Lions Club also participates in assisting families in need during the cold season. We have our yearly Turkey donations and Coats for families in need. The coat drive has been extended to include warm clothes, shoes, etc for those who are less fortunate, especially during this time of need in our country with the economy. Any donations, please contact the Mohawk Valley Lions Club and we will make sure your donation goes to a needy family.

The Eugene Lions Club's 80th birthday, The Mohawk Valley Lions Club in conjuction with the Mohawk Valley Museum of Fine arts donated an antique Tiffany styled stained green glass with white flowers Hyde Park lamp, included with the certificate of authenticity. Our Charter Night dinner was a big success October 7, 2003 with more than 70 people in attendance from 10 of the surrounding area clubs. Our Approperations Committee has successfully acquired items from the Eugene Club. Thank you so very much.

We are also working on keeping our neighborhood clean with road side cleanup. Please contact us or Lion Kitson Graham if you are interested in assisting us on keeping Mohawk Valley beautiful.
